Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-05-08

1. Who you're agreeing with

Fynr (fynr.app) is operated by Michael Ottiger, a private individual resident in Switzerland (“we”, “us”, “the operator”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

2. What Fynr is — and isn't

Fynr is a personal-finance tracking app. It lets you record transactions, build budgets, plan savings, set goals and track assets.

It is not financial advice. Numbers shown are estimates based on what you typed. Forecasts (plans, goals projections) are compounding-interest math on user-supplied assumptions, not predictions. Don't make investment, tax or banking decisions based on what Fynr displays without checking with a qualified professional.

It is not a bank, broker, payment processor, accountant or tax service. We don't move money. We don't connect to your real bank. Numbers in Fynr are whatever you (or the receipt scanner) typed, nothing more.

3. Account and eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 to use Fynr.
  • You're responsible for keeping your Google account secure — we sign you in via Google through Auth0 and have no separate password.
  • One person, one account. Don't share login credentials.
  • You can delete your account any time in Settings. See the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data on deletion.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for anything illegal, fraudulent or harmful.
  • Try to break, probe or overload the service (rate limits will block you; abuse may get the account terminated).
  • Reverse-engineer the service or access it via automated means other than the published APIs you'd use as a normal user.
  • Upload content that infringes someone else's rights, contains malware, or contains personal data of people who haven't consented.
  • Resell, sublicense or commercially redistribute the service.

5. Your content stays yours

Everything you put into Fynr — transactions, receipts, notes — is yours. We do not claim ownership. You grant us only the licence we need to host, process and display it back to you and the people you share workspaces with. Receipts you upload may be sent to Google's Gemini API for OCR; see the Privacy Policy for details.

6. Service is provided “as-is”

Fynr is a free, hobby-run service. To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • The service is provided “as-is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
  • We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any data is accurate or complete.
  • The service may go down, lose data, change features, or be discontinued at any time without notice.
  • Data backups are best-effort. Keep your own copies of anything you can't lose. The Data Export button in Settings exists for exactly this reason — use it.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Swiss law:

  • The operator's total liability for any claim arising from or related to the service is limited to CHF 0, reflecting that the service is free of charge.
  • The operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost savings, loss of data, or financial decisions made on the basis of information shown by the service.
  • These limits do not apply to liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under Swiss law (CO Art. 100), in particular liability for gross negligence, intentional misconduct, or harm to life or bodily integrity. Nothing in these terms purports to limit such liability.
  • Nothing in these terms limits our duties as a data controller under GDPR / Swiss FADP, including breach notification and your data-subject rights.

8. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold the operator harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the service, your breach of these terms, or content you upload that infringes third-party rights.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, abuse the service, or pose a risk to other users. You may delete your account at any time. Termination does not extinguish accrued data-subject rights under the Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to the terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in-app before they take effect. Continued use after changes means you accept them. If you don't, delete your account.

11. Governing law and forum

These terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). The exclusive forum for disputes is the competent courts of Switzerland. Mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected.
